VCC’s 2018 Print Show

The VCC’s 2018 Print Show will open to the public on Friday, April 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Victoria Arts Council’s Fort Street Gallery (636 Fort Street). The print show will run until May 8, from Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 to 6:00 PM.  Volunteers will be required to staff the gallery during the print show.  When logged into the club’s website, members can volunteers here.

On display will be a broad selection of photographic images representing some of best work produced by VCC members. The print show will include stand-alone prints as well as thematic collections created by the same photographer. VCC members will staff the show, and we are hoping there will be will be opportunities for portrait photography. We look forward seeing you at our print show!

VCC members can now submit images for the print show through the club’s competitions page, which will allow up to two stand-alone images and one set of three images for the thematic selection. Images can be submitted up to March 12.  We plan to inform members by March 19 whether their image(s) have been selected, with delivery of framed prints to the gallery required on April 19.

This is not a competition in the tradition sense and, space permitting, our print show will be as inclusive as possible.   Please consider the following when selecting the images that you would like to submit.

Stand-Alone Selection

  • family friendly
  • no theme
  • prints only, no canvas
  • framed in Opus 16”x20” black metal exhibition frames, wired for hanging
  • if matted, the matt colour should be black or white, no other colours

Three-Print Thematic Selection

  • family friendly
  • following Steve’s Web Tip # 12, (entered as a sequence) three images that explore a common subject or theme, interesting place, an idea or concept, a story
  • the three images must present a cohesive look; they belong together
  • prints may be on paper, canvas, metal, etc,
  • there are no size, frame, or matting requirements (although there are limits on wall space that will be made available due to space constraints): please wire for hanging
